
The Parenting Partners program provides mentors to first-time parents in the community who are socially, economically, and financially isolated. The goal of this program is to promote the social, emotional and psychological well-being of children and their families and thereby prevent child abuse and neglect.
The appropriate guidance by a seasonal mother or father can have a profound effect on a first time mom or dad. As a mentor you can inspire potential in another person, give compassion, love, and understanding to improve the future generation of another family.
We are looking for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of these young parents and their child(ren). You will act as a role model to pass on your parenting skills to another generation.
The Young/Teen Parent:
Are male or female young parents from all over Palm Beach County who have a child 0-5 years old or are expecting their first baby.
Being a new parent is an exciting experience, but can also be somewhat scary, especially if you are a teen or young adult. Having someone there, who has experienced similar situations and understands what you’re going through, can make an incredible difference. The time that you will need somewhere there is NOW. Having someone there to lean and learn from could make your new parenting experience run more smoothly.
Criteria:

First time parents ages 11-25
- Must have children between the ages of 0-5 or be expecting your first baby.
The Mentor:
Will be someone who has experience in raising a child, and/or who has the maturity and life skills to role model appropriate behavior.
Mentors will be trained in child development and parent education. They will learn how to teach and reinforce effective parenting skills to the clients.
Mentors will attend Bi-monthly support groups and social events with young parents. All it takes it takes is an hour each week to meet with a young mom or dad.
