The service provided by Big Brothers Big Sisters is based on the premise that youth, in order to reach their full potiental as men and women, need the influence of mature, responsible and responsive adults during their formative years.

Where that influence is inadequate due to parental limitations or absence, the youth may be deterred in reaching his/her potiental as a responsible adult. The service provided by Big Brothers Big Sisters is designed to meet the needs of such youth through the provisions of an adult Big Brother and Big Sister mentor.

The relationship between the youth and the mentor serves to enhance the quality of the youth's life and provides a method for the youth to reach his/her potiental.
